A compact, well put together cob - beautifully marked. A very handsome head with a noble expression & correct conformation ears to tail. Straight in every way with balanced paces and attractive self carriage. Although unfit Max is in beautiful condition, well looked after and wanting for nothing, lovely hooves with unblemished limb; possibly looking a little too well, recently coming back into work after a short break, through no fault of his own, now in regular work and thriving. His consistency is not from regular work, he can be pulled in and tacked up as required and retains his sanity. Regularly referred to as a people horse, Max is very willing to learn and quickly becomes your best friend, he is a content and balanced character, he comes to call and is always the first to the gate. Being a local boy, he hasn’t been well travelled, saying that he loads and travels easily in both a lorry and a trailer. Max is easy to catch, good to clip, doesn’t crib, weave or kick the doors, has been regularly trimmed and is good to shoe. This horse enjoys a bath and stands well. His first home had him from birth and was trained as a three year old. Since then has done a lot of natural horsemanship and trail rides both bitless and western. When he was five he was then sold to his previous owner who had done some long distance road hacking with him (ridden in full english tack) and had regular lessons weekly in the school, he is only available due to owners deteriorating health.Current standard of flatwork is established yet basic, responds well to his rider, while still providing a sense of security. Max will hack out alone or in company across all different terrain. He doesn’t worry about large vehicles or trailers passing and is used to the noise and sight of farm machinery, he isn’t spooked by other animals such as cattle, sheep, pigs, dogs and chickens. Happy to hack through open spaces and tackles obstacles such as water and small logs easily with little complication. He will jump around a course of 3ft fences with some encouragement, will happily trot around 2ft6, he isn’t experienced in this discipline but by no means objects. Max recently displayed effortless style whilst loose jumping, I believe he would make a top hunter/ riding club allrounder with minimal effort. Max would suit an experienced rider who lacks confidence and is looking for a best friend to take up the ranks and enjoy long hacks with, he would equally thrive with a competent novice who has the guidance of experienced peers and instructors, as he is very safe but relatively low mileage for his age. Being a good enough cob to show and having the wonderful presence he has, I would like to see him in an experienced home to reach his full potential. This genuine chap would be an asset to any riding school. Finding a perfect home is an absolute must for this genuine horse.
